Technique handed down from Edo
Tokyo’s original products and traditional crafts are all fine items nurtured in Tokyo’s unique climate and history. They are made with the traditional techniques handed down through the ages. The simple handmade textures, beautiful shapes, and excellent functionality are their virtues.

Murayama Oshima Tsugumi
Oshima styled splash patterns weaved based on the Murayama indigo splash patterns and the Sunagawa broad patterns, which were later called Murayama Oshima Tsugumi

Tamaori
In Hachioji, silk has been traditionally weaved. Omeshiroi, Tsumugiori, and Kasuri. Its characteristic is the taste and technique sustained throughout history.

Edo Bekko
The pasting technique was introduced in the Edo period, enabling the formalition of complicated shapes. Some have Makie , sculpture, or curving. The spectacle frames of Edo Bekko are unique.

Edo Sudare (screen)
The Sudare technique is said to have been established in the early Edo period. Its characteristic is the texture of the natural material.

Edo Kacchu (armor)
Its appeared as an ornament to wish for a healthy growth of boys in the Edo period. The manufacturing process is complicated, for it requires a compilation of all kinds of techniques.


Edo Glass
The Japanese glass manufacturing has a long history since the Yayoi period. The Edo glass started at the beginning of the 18th century with mirrors, spectacles, and wind bells among others.
